These six books in the series titled, “Power in the Word Bible Dictionary,” have been born out of the uniqueness of Bible Scripture with a distinctive blend of uplifting Scripture combined with Inspirational Editorial comment. While this series of Bible Dictionaries were initially created with the thought that they would be an ideal adjunct for Christians in Business it soon became obvious that the message was broader than that. All Christians as well as non-Christian readers would find enormous value from the content – structured in alphabetical order.
Because of my business and sales background, in which I have been fortunate to have managed, taught, trained, mentored and encouraged many individuals over a 50 year career, I had devised short handouts that incorporated Christian teachings with business and sales overtones. Slowly the concept grew and in these six publications here are a testament to that. Much of what you read may seem repetitive, but that too is done on purpose, as repetition provides a better alphabetical spread and encourages personal memorization of ideas, passages and some Bible Scriptures.
These book are not perfect, and were never meant to be, but as a collection of sales and business ideologies moulded around Biblical Principles, they become the motivational gems they were intended to be. And just like all of my other Christian writings, they have been made available to each reader for only $1.00 per volume.
Throughout the history of the Christian world, so many of those who were used of God in so many ways were also the ones who seemed to struggle the most, and frequently asked where God was, why He didn’t answer prayer, and so on. They often felt betrayed, violated and abandoned. In other words, they were people just like you and me, yet they had deep routed conviction that God would bring them through no matter what their problems may be.
So often we live with the knowledge that the deeper we allow our faith in God to grow, the more we seem to struggle against powerful forces that often may seem more real than God in the struggles we go through to overcome them. Not only do we need to become aware of this one fact, but also realize we should expect a similar battle the deeper we pursue the presence of God, and surrender our hearts to Him.
If you’ve frequently ask questions such as, “Where are you God?” “Why don’t You help me?”, “Hear my prayer, Oh Lord,” and so on. Then you are not alone.
Living by faith, or in the Presence of God is never easy. Not one of the apostles found it easy. Eleven of the apostles were martyred, and the twelfth, John, the brother of James, was exiled. Paul, the writer of two thirds of the New Testament, had both a horrific start to his ministry, challenges throughout his ministry and died for his faith.
Every one of our Old Testament examples also struggled, faced all manner of hardships, persecutions and isolation while being used of God – no matter how blessed they were of God. And our best life example, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, suffered oppression, pain, agony. But above all, Jesus, more than any other, knew the anguish of feeling the extremities of heartache through abandonment.
So if you feel any of the above exampled trials, or the frustrations of life, and the constant attack of the enemy – welcome to God’s best.
God is a God of provision. There will always be a means He provides you with, or a way out that once you look back was either more than obvious – or nothing short of a miracle. Either way, it was He that gave you the means of a way through and the ability to overcome once you saw your way clear. How you deal with things once the door has been open is just as vital as when it was opened in the first place.
And there’s History in How all of this Came Together
In 1982 I was challenged by a Christian Businessman over a period of some months to move my life into a new dimension and restate my then somewhat backslidden former faith. In February 1983 I gave my heart to The Lord after experiencing a personal miracle. From that night, I did everything I knew to prove to myself and others that I had made a mistake and needed to correct things, but the more I read, the more audio I listened to and the more sermons I attended, the closer those things drew me to the Lord.
Fortunately, my early days were influenced by the instructions and philosophies of the Australian author Kevin Conner just after he returned to Melbourne, Australia from Orlando USA. After three years there, the Lord called me to Sydney, where I joined Christian Life Centre under Frank Houston, that not long afterwards became Hillsong Church under the direction of one of the best preachers worldwide, Brian Houston, that has the ability to mould the bible into every day lifestyle and challenges.
It was in 1984 that I began writing Christian Material. A transition that wasn’t to hard, as I had been writing for a while at that point and had already had 5 books published – the 5th was an international success. And it was from that background that this book and others were penned.
I am not a theologian, nor a Bible School graduate, but had a burning passion to do things that I could pass on to others in my simplistic understanding. Yet to my amazement, many of my friends that read my works asked for copies to read, and then many of those would be photocopied and handed around.
The first of my works were my rewrites of the Psalms. I just wanted to get to understand the heart of King David, so I armed myself with around 10 or 15 kinds of bible and commentaries and read, studies and then wrote each Psalm line by line. I did this for my own understanding, and then would write and rewrite these passages until I felt I could benefit from what was written. Then one day, an interstate pastor and his wife stayed at my home, she notes a around 30 Psalms I had rewritten left on a coffee table. She began reading them and liked what she read. When she found that I had written them she asked for copies of all I had done, then took them back home and started handing them around her congregation. They were popular, and she kept asking for more material.
In a short time I was asked to write articles, motivational verse, short stories of a Christian nature and other material. And that’s where this and other similar works come from. The way this book is structured is the result of personal notes that others liked, and just kept on expanding.
