Right Mental Attitude – R.M.A.

Most of us are aware of the power of knowing about and applying a POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE. And its perhaps one of the most vital tools any individual can possess . . . In other words, if the attitude is right, the results are always good – or at least should be. On the other hand, we are all aware of the traps created by a NEGATIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE. And if your thoughts are geared wrongly, you’ll pay the price sooner, rather than later.

But there are extremes in both. Say if you cut a finger and its bleeding profusely you don’t say to yourself, “Oh it will go away if I have a POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE“. Or if your bank account is empty, you don’t go out writing thousands of dollars worth of cheques just because you believe that if you can think it, it will materialise. Life doesn’t work that way.

Not that I haven’t seen nor experienced many miracles through the power of prayer. But in the main, we live in a practical world and need to apply ourselves accordingly to do this. The attitude we need to instill is the RIGHT MENTAL ATTITUDE. In other words we need to develop a REAL MENTAL ATTITUDE to be able to appreciate the difference between the IDEAL and the REAL.

Many of the “over the top” POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE exponents live in the IDEAL and only touch the edges of the REAL. Don’t get me wrong, I believe most of what many accomplish in life is based on the IDEAL.

Now my idea of the IDEAL is to drive the best of cars, live in the best of homes, spend as much as I like, travel where I want to and only work if I feel like I need to. That’s the IDEAL. But for the NOW, the REAL is I drive what I can afford, I live where I can afford to, I spend as much as I can afford to, and I travel where I can afford to and I work because I have to. That is the REAL in my life. It is real in yours too?

The distance between the IDEAL and the REAL is the degree of disappointment of ones experiences.

In life you court your IDEAL, then when you marry, you experience the REAL. You accept the IDEAL job, then after a few weeks you learn to walk in the REAL In other words, the DISAPPOINTMENTS you experience are not based on what you find – they are based on what you EXPECT to find. And the bigger the expectations the bigger the disappointment.

Another point is, that everything we experience began as an INTANGIBLE before it became a TANGIBLE. In order to succeed , you need to dream, to plan, and to work at making that plan a reality. Once that is accomplished, you then need to fine-tune the plan, then walk some more, fine tune some more and repeat the cycle until you succeed. That success is your TANGIBLE.

Your job, car, house, family, and spiritual life all started out as an INTANGIBLE. Even the respect, love, admiration, and closeness you have for others, all started out as INTANGIBLES.

BUSINESS is based on INTANGIBLES,

GOALS are based on INTANGIBLES,

SUCCESS is based on INTANGIBLES …

and until that INTANGIBLE is converted into a TANGIBLE through the REALITY of success you will never turn your IDEAL into the REAL. Therefore, in order to build on, and improve on the REAL – we need to apply the RIGHT MENTAL ATTITUDE.
